Upwest Arts Presents Keola Beamer and Moanalani Beamer

Description

World-renowned guitarist and singer Keola Beamer and Moanalani Beamer will present a night of traditional Hawaiian music and dance. This concert, which is presented by UpWest Arts, marks Keola Beamer’s first visit to Santa Barbara in several years. Slack key guitarist Keola Beamer and his partner, hula dancer Moanalani Beamer, create music and dance that is generating a lot of buzz in the islands. Their music incorporates ancient Hawaiian musical instruments into inventive arrangements of both well-loved Hawaiian music and contemporary songs for something new and fresh. Keola Beamer is a Hawaiian music legend. One of Hawaii’s premier singer-songwriters, arrangers, composers and masters of Hawaiian slack key guitar, his breadth of talent springs from five generations of one of Hawaii’s most illustrious musical families. Keola Beamer’s music was recently featured in the soundtrack for the Oscar-nominated film The Descendants, starring George Clooney.
