State Street Ballet Young Dancers present Celebration of Dance

Description

State Street Ballet Young Dancers is a pre-professional performing company of dancers aged 12-18. This year’s Celebration of Dance performance will include new repertoire by Kassandra Taylor Newberry from Atlanta, Georgia and Edgar Zejdejas of Montreal, Canada, as well as local choreographers and teachers Cecily Stewart, Sarah Moore and Mairead Bower. Emerging Choreographers Fiona Chandrasekaran and Harrison Stevenson have contemporary works which will also be premiered. The Apprentices and Juniors of SSBYD will be featured in Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf choreographed by Allison Gustafson. The show promises something for everyone: a story ballet, contemporary choreography utilizing unique props, jazz and classical ballet.
